The Miami Heat are currently staring an NBA Championship series loss in the face, a position they are not used to being in, but LeBron James won't be deciding his future based on the finals.

Sources have claimed that James will not decide whether or not to stay in Miami based on the teams failure or success in this years NBA Finals.

James has the option to opt-out of his current Heat contract and become the biggest free-agent in the NBA this summer if he should choose to do so.

There are many rumours about a possible new location for James including a return to his first ever NBA team the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James isn't the only one who could be departing Miami however as Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade will both be facing the same decision.

The once named big three of the Heat could all be playing somewhere new next season but it is unclear if the outcome of this years finals will help the players make up their minds.

In order to win their third consecutive NBA Championship, the Heat will have to make history by becoming the first ever team to come back from 3-1 down in the finals and win the seven game series.

Only eight teams have managed it in the history of the play-offs and none in the finals so it is a tall task for Miami, but it seems LeBron's mind is made up one way or the other.
