Do not let frivolous statistics fool you. Chile were compelled to fight tooth and nail for their 3-1 victory over Group B minnows, Australia.

Despite the (ultimately) fruitless endeavors of the inexperienced Australian side, Chile were able to reign supreme due to the tactically intelligent Jorge Valdivia - who was a thorn in the side of Australia for 68 minutes before substitution - and the mercurial Alexis Sanchez, who directly influenced two goals as Chile sailed to victory.
