Everton make contact over Ivan Perisic

Everton have made contact with Wolfsburg over a potential move for Ivan Perisic.

The Croatian winger is valued at £8million by his club, according to The Daily Mail, and some impressive performances for the Croatian national team have caused Everton to step up their interest.

Although Perisic only joined Wolfsburg last January, the club are looking to strengthen in other areas and could be persuaded to sell should a suitable offer be made.

Perisic is capable of playing as a winger, attacking midfielder or up front, both on the right and the left. As Gerard Deulofeu has been recalled to the Barcelona first-team by incoming boss, Luis Enrique, after an impressive season at loan at Everton, Roberto Martinez is keen to bring in a suitable replacement winger.

After a strong season, which saw the club narrowly miss out on Champions League football due to a last gasp run of form from Arsenal, Everton are keen to avoid slipping down the table next season following the end of loan spells for top players such as Deulofeu, Gareth Barry and Romelu Lukaku.

The club’s chairman, Bill Kenwright, is in talks with Chelsea over a deal to bring Lukaku in on a permanent deal. Barry is also available on a free transfer, having been released by Manchester City, but there are a number of Premier League clubs interested in securing his services.

Everton are also reportedly interested in Bruno Martins Indi and Stefan de Vrij of Feyenoord, as well as Jeremain Lens of Dinamo Kiev.
