The United States begin their 2014 World Cup campaign against Ghana tonight with Jurgen Klinsmann's men looking to get a good start in what has been dubbed this year's 'group of death'.

The US have struggled historically against their African opponents, with Ghana having eliminated them from the two previous tournaments, and their German head coach has already ruled them out of beating the odds and going all the way in Brazil.

So to keep the USMNT in good spirits ahead of their Natal contest, GMS brings you the US' five greatest World Cup moments.

With moments taken from as far back as the 1950 tournament in Brazil, right up to the national side's last outing in 2010 the United States have certainly had some dramatic encounters throughout the years.
