Patience, perseverance, time and inherited genes; all key contributing factors towards growing - and cultivating - an awesome beard, and there have been some fantastic facial hair pieces that have graced cricket fields throughout the years.

The macho moustaches and tight shirts of the 1970s may have slowly disappeared from the game, but they have been replaced by an array of bushy neckpieces.

Whether for religious reasons, comfort or fashion, beards continue to have a place in the traditional sport of cricket.
