Jeremy Menez has signed for Italian giants AC Milan from PSG, reports Sky Sports
The midfielder’s contract had expired with the French champions and Menez decided to seek new pastures after three years in France. Menez joined PSG from Serie A moving from Roma in 2011 in a €8 million move after spending three years in the Italian capital.
The 27-year-old had found gametime difficult to come by at Parc des Princes, especially with the arrival of Yohan Cabaye in January after his move from Newcastle United.
Menez only appeared 16 times for PSG, with seven of those coming off the bench as a substitute.
During his three years in Paris, he made 79 appearances for PSG scoring 14 times, winning the league twice in the 2012-13 and 2013-14. Menez is credited with PSG 2000th league goal, scoring against Auxerre in December 2011.
His best season for PSG was in 2011-12, during his first season with PSG where he made 33 appearances scoring seven times. With experience in the Champions League, he is a strong addition to a Milan side looking to rebuild. The deal had been put on hold with Menez being on holiday.
Menez is looking to focus on rediscovering the kind of form that has seen him win 24 caps for France, with two international goals to his name. With the upcoming 2016 European championships being help in France, Menez is keen to make sure that he gets the chance to represent his country once more.
AC Milan will be looking to rebuild their squad after a poor season last year which saw them finish 8th in Serie A. They were only three points away from clinching European football, denied by rivals Inter Milan, but ended up 45 points behind league champions Juventus. Even the influence of club legend Clarence Seedorf couldn’t help them secure European football for next season, with Seedorf being axed as manager at the end of the season.
The midfielder is new manager Felipe Inzaghi’s second signing joining former Chelsea defender and PSG teammate Alex at AC Milan after he agreed a two year deal with the seven-time champions of Europe.
He joins a strong team with the likes of Kaka, Mario Balotelli, Nigel de Jong, Sulley Muntari and Robinho all featuring for the Italians giants. Menez will be hoping to have the same instant impact that he did when he moved to PSG with the fifth club of his career.
