Arsenal have stepped up their interest in AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli and are ready to pay £25 million for the maverick Italy international. (Daily Mirror)

The Serie 'A' giants are looking to offload the former Manchester City man in a bid to ease their financial problems at the San Siro, and a return to the Premier League is looking increasingly likely.

Arsene Wenger is considering a surprise move for Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, and might ask for him to be included in a player swap deal for Thomas Vermaelen. (Daily Mail)

The Arsenal captain has been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, and the Gunners boss is weighing up the prospect of bringing either Cleverley or Chris Smalling to the Emirates Stadium.

Calum Chambers

Arsenal are the bookies' favourites to sign Southampton starlet Calum Chambers this summer, ahead of Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea. (Daily Star)

The 19-year-old defender enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign at St Mary's last term, attracting admiring glances from Arsene Wenger - who is said to be lining the England U19 international up as a replacement for Bacary Sagna at the Emirates Stadium.

Julian Draxler

Julian Draxler says he turned down a move to Arsenal in January and plans to remain with Schalke beyond this summer. (BBC Sport)

Arsene Wenger is believed to be a huge admirer of the Germany international, but will be wasting his time if he plans to try and lure the player to the Emirates this transfer window, after the 20-year-old made clear his desire to stay in the Bundesliga for another 12 months at least.

Gonzalo Higuain

Arsenal have been placed on red alert after Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain admitted he could be on the move this summer. (Daily Express)

The Argentina international has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs, but suitors will need to fork out around €55 million if they are serious about signing him.

Higuain only arrived at Stadio San Paolo last summer from Real Madrid in a reported €40m deal, and Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis wants at least €15m profit to part with the talisman in the current transfer window.
