Louis van Gaal's Dream Manchester United XI for '14/15 (1)

Published 6 Comments

The critics and sceptics can wax lyrical all they like about how Manchester United's transfer fortunes haven't improved since Louis van Gaal took to the helm, but whilst he remains manager of Holland, they don't really have a leg to stand on.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see United crumble under a legendary manager in the same way as they did when David Moyes was in charge, but I just can't see it happening. Whilst Ed Woodward appears, at the very least, incapable of luring the biggest names to Old Trafford, it's highly unlikely that will remain the case when Van Gaal officially takes up formal duties following the World Cup, and the 62-year-old has a good enough reputation to convince some of the best players to join him in his new project with the Red Devils.

It's said a list of potential signings has already been devised by the Dutchman, and if nothing else this shows his eagerness to ensure that change besets a side which found itself in complete turmoil last campaign.

What we, and every United fan, are left wondering though, is just how United could look next season if Van Gaal can get his hand on his desired targets with that mooted £150million kitty he has? What sort of hybrid side could be forged from the remnants of Sir Alex Ferguson's team and the new boys who could arrive in Manchester?

DISCLAIMER - We've tried to keep our selections reasonable. It's a dream XI alright, but don't expect to see the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo adorning the team sheet.
