For generations, footballers have tried to use more than their skill and ability to gain an advantage over the opposition, and yesterday's unnecessary incident involving hat-trick hero Thomas Muller, during Germany's emphatic opening win over Portugal, brought back memories of other cheating footballers over the years that have graced the world's theatre's of the beautiful game.

As a passionate supporter of most sports, it still amazes me that overpaid footballing genius' still find the need to resort to cheating in order to get the desired result.

Granted it is known to have happened in many other sports, however few can argue that football, without question, leads the nominations when it comes to the biggest cheats in the world of sport.

If I had time for the top 100 footballing cheats it wouldn't be a problem finding the candidates however this time round I have selected my top six biggest cheats.
