Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa will not be moving to Qatar, claims his agent Michael Ouazine.
Ben Arfa has been linked with a move away from Newcastle having failed to impress club boss, Alan Pardew, last season.
The French midfielder has since been linked with moves to the Qatari football league, with Al Sadd and Lekhwiya interested in the 27-year-old.
However, Ouazine has denied the move and confirmed that his client will continue playing in Europe beyond next season.
He told French newspaper, L’Equipe: “This is false. He remains on a one-year contract at Newcastle and Hatem has the intention to continue to play in Europe.”
Ben Arfa joined Newcastle from Marseille in 2010, and although he originally impressed, he was underwhelming throughout the 2013-14 season, managing only three goals and five assists in 27 Premier League appearances, which has lead Newcastle bosses to question the player’s fitness.
Although a move to Qatar is off the cards, Newcastle will surely want to cash in on the player, who would be free to agree terms with another club in just six months time, should any offers be made.
A host of Premier League clubs, as well as a number of clubs within Europe’s top divisions, have been linked with the former France international.
West Ham, Tottenham and AC Milan are among the clubs rumoured to be interested in taking a chance on the Newcastle player.
