Liverpool's interest in Southampton's Adam Lallana is already known with the club earlier submitting a bid which is believed to be in the region of £25 million for the England International. Yet with Southampton holding out for more, Liverpool are better off looking at other options.
There's no doubt that Lallana is a talented individual with many qualities such as his versatility and ability to run at players. But with Liverpool set to return to the Champions League after a long absence perhaps money might be better spent elsewhere.
One alternative is Pedro from Barcelona. It is believed the Catalan club are willing to listen to offers for the 26-year-old. Although Pedro is currently at the World Cup with Spain the versatile attacker acknowledges his future is up in the air. He told Marca: “I'm not sure what’s going to happen, I'm relaxed and concentrating on the (Spanish) team and the World Cup. When I need to decide something, I'll talk to the club and we'll see what happens."
With a possible move to Liverpool on the cards the Spanish international would bring much to the club. The multiple amount of positions he can play, the goals he scores and of course the amount of Champions League experience he has will be a massive asset to the Merseyside club.
Another option should a deal for Pedro fail to materialise could be his teammate Alexis Sanchez. It is rumored the Chilean could also be another causality in Luis Enrique's attempt to rebuild Barcelona. The 25-year-old is also quite versatile and definitely knows where the back of the net is scoring 19 goals this season whilst assisting 10.
Antoine Griezmann of Real Sociedad and Xherdan Shaqiri of Bayern Munich have also been mentioned as other possible options. As for Adam Lallana he may not score and assist as many goals as the likes of Pedro and Sanchez, however he does create more chances (68) compared to Pedro's (37) and Sanchez's (47), whilst he also significantly completes more successful key passes (63), Pedro (29), Sanchez (37). Furthermore should Liverpool go all out to sign Adam Lallana then they would have acquired a good player without a doubt. But is he really worth the money Southampton are looking for?
