Liverpool and Everton are set to battle to sign Stephane Mbia, who will become a free agent on July 1, according to the Daily Mail.
Mbia is currently under contract with Queens Park Rangers, but his contract has not been extended beyond last season.
The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Sevilla, who are also keen on retaining the player, while he has also turned heads at Inter Milan.
The Cameroon international joined QPR in 2012 from Marseille in a £5million deal, but failed to impress in his first season in the Premier League, prompting the club to ship him out on loan a year later.
Mbia went on to claim the Europa league trophy with Sevilla, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 30 games from a defensive midfield position.
Everton are thought to be considering a move for the player, should they fail to sign key target, Gareth Barry, who is also available on a free transfer.
Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, is also keen to add some depth to his squad to ensure they can continue to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Mbia, who is currently in Brazil with the Cameroon national team, is thought to be considering his options and should make a decision when he returns from the World Cup.
