Manchester United may miss out on both Alexis Sanchez and Miranda, with Atletico Madrid ready to offer the Brazilian defender to Barcelona as part of a deal to bring Sanchez to the Vicente Calderon, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
Both Sanchez and Miranda have been identified as Manchester United transfer targets this summer, with new boss Louis Van Gaal eager to strengthen across several areas of the squad.
Miranda was believed to be a key defensive acquisition, following the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. But the 29-year-old, who has been valued at €24m, could be included in an Atletico bid for Sanchez.
Barcelona want €30m for the Chilean star, but Atletico may offer Miranda as part of the package to bring the asking price down. Barcelona have also been linked with Miranda along with United.
As for Sanchez, there's no shortage of suitors. As well as United, the likes of Juventus and Liverpool have also been strongly linked with the lightning fast forward.
He was excellent as Chile dumped defending world champions Spain out of the World Cup last night.
And while he enjoyed an impressive individual campaign for Barcelona last season, he is one of several Nou Camp stars reportedly available for transfer this summer.
Cesc Fabregas has already left, and reports in Spain have claimed that only a handful of stars are untouchable - the likes of Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta - while the rest will be sold for the right price.
United's attacking line-up
Another winger/forward is not a desperate need for United, but anybody who watched the Chile victory over Spain will understand the value Sanchez can bring to Old Trafford.
His boundless energy, quick feet and pace caused problems throughout the game, and he'd be a huge upgrade on the likes of Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Nani and Shinji Kagawa.
Atletico Madrid's situation
But they may be out-bid for the Chilean, as defending La Liga champions Atletico Madrid will have plenty of cash to spend this summer and an appetite to invest it aggressively.
They're being raided by Europe's richest clubs - Diego Costa looks set for Chelsea while Koke, Arda Turan and Felipe Luis have all been linked with moves away as well.
If the exodus does indeed happen, they'll need to draft in replacements, and Sanchez would be an excellent place to start.
