Manchester United need to get a move on with their transfer business or else they run the risk of repeating last summer's shambles. Louis van Gaal has handed over a list of potential signings to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward but, with one month now elapsed since the end of the 2013/14 campaign, United fans are still waiting news of the club's first new arrival.
After finishing last season in seventh position, there's no question United require strengthening in key areas this summer. The Red Devils can kiss goodbye to their hopes of securing a top-four finish next term unless they spend significant cash before the transfer window closes on September 2 - with or without Van Gaal at the helm.
There's no doubt Van Gaal is a fantastic fit for the Red Devils. Unlike his predecessor, David Moyes, the vastly-experienced Dutch coach has the charisma and personality to handle the big egos in the Old Trafford dressing room. Stars know and respect him - and this, in turn, should make signing players easier than summer than it was 12 months ago.
United will not be competing in either the Champions League or Europa League next season, but that shouldn't stop the Premier League giants being able to lure players to Manchester. After all, only a select few clubs in world football find themselves on an equal footing with Manchester United in the prestige stakes.
The hunt for new signings has begun
So, with that in mind, which players could Van Gaal bring to Old Trafford this summer? And, equally importantly, which United stars could they end up replacing?
It's time for Manchester United to undergo a much-needed overhaul. A summer transfer upgrade operation will soon be underway.
