4. Mayor of Sacramento, California Kevin Johnson
KJ is one of the more under appreciated players in NBA history, largely because his career was cut short due to injury.
The prolific point guard played in three all-star games, helped the Phoenix Suns to the 1993 NBA finals, and retired with career averages of 18.9 points and 9.6 assist per game, potentially hall of fame numbers, although his name hasn't been called yet.
Johnson won the election for Mayor of Sacramento in 2008, and won re-election in 2012.
He's remained active in NBA causes during his time in politics, helping to keep the Kings in Sacramento, and taking a lead with the NBA Players Union during the Donald sterling fiasco during the playoffs.
KJ will be eligible to run for a third term in 2016.
