Every year we see some unexpected players break out with a career year.

Sometimes it just can be a new head coach, team, system or culture within a locker room to spark that change.

Last year we had Josh Gordon, the Cleveland Browns wide receiver lead the league in receiving yards despite being suspended the first two games.

What's even more impressive is Gordon did this while the Browns threw four different starting quarterbacks out there over the duration of the season. Now Gordon is facing a season long suspension.

Another player who's had a troubled past, linebacker Vontaze Burfict of the Cincinnati Bengals led the NFL in tackles last season with 171.

Burfict was undrafted out of Arizona State and has thrived in the Bengals system the two years he's been there.

He'll look to be the key element in the middle for a stout Bengals defense next year.

Let's take a look at some breakout candidates for the 2014 season.
