This week’s episode of NXT saw The Ascension put their NXT Tag Team Championships on the line whilst a WWE legend wants to face the NXT Champion.

The show opens up with a recap of the main event which took place last week, where Tyson Kidd and Adrian Neville competed in a rematch for the NXT Championship and Adrian Neville successfully retained. The night ended with many questioning what move Tyson Kidd would make next after failing to get the better of Neville on two occasions.

The on Monday Night Raw this past week, the wife of Tyson Kidd; Natalya practically begged JBL to allow Tyson Kidd and Sami Zayn to form a tag team.

However NXT this week begins with a match between Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss, with the match coming to fruition due to a challenge set by Alexa Bliss the previous week.

Match One: Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss

Once more there is obvious tension between Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Summer Rae as the inevitable break-up looms with Charlotte set to look very strong. This wasn;t the longest of matches but long enough for both women to look quite strong, with the finish coming via a quick roll-up pin from Alexa Bliss after another Charlotte and Summer Rae argument proving to be a distraction.

Result: Alexa Bliss defeats Sasha Banks

Backstage and Natalya is beside Tyson Kidd once more and he doesn’t seem impressed with Natalya going behind his back and asking John Bradshaw Layfield for a tag team championship match with Sami Zayn as his partner. Tyson Kidd tells Natalya that he could have done it all by himself before leaving to go to Sami Zayn and discuss their game plan.

We then go to the new team of Simon Gotch and Aiden English who now go by the name of The Vaudevillians and they say that they want the tag team championships. They go for a 1920’s style of a promo with black and white effects which makes it look like a Charlie Chaplin sketch. Plenty of laughs and over exaggeration so expect this team to be great together and legitimate tag team title contenders, very entertaining.

Match Two: Mojo Rawley vs. Garrett Dylan

A good start for Mojo Rawley but it was surprising just how much offense Dylan actually got in. Nevertheless we are used to energetic comebacks from Rawley and that’s exactly what occurred here, hitting the Hyperdrive for the victory.

Result: Mojo Rawley defeats Garrett Dylan

Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd are seen talking backstage and they call tonight their restart, as Tyson Kidd is looking to move on from his losses to Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn continues to compete after failing to get a shot at the title time and time again.

Match Three: The Vaudevillians vs. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger

A brilliant entrance for The Vaudevillians and they impress in the ring also, Simon Gotch – formerly known as Ryan Drago – was brilliant by taking it to Jason Jordan and even topped it off by doing press-ups on Jordan’s back. The crowd were firmly behind them and rightfully so, they have a brilliant look, gimmick and work so well together. Aiden English hit a Swanton Bomb from the middle rope to give his team the victory. Very impressed with Gotch and English.

Result: The Vaudevillians defeat Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger

Colin Cassady is backstage and starts to sing about when the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie – but he doesn’t finish it off with ‘that’s Amore’, as he hinted that Enzo Amore will be returning to NXT very soon. After this, we find out that former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam wants to face current NXT Champion, Adrian Neville. Keep your eye out for that one.

Match Four: Tyler Breeze vs, Kalisto

The number one contender to the NXT Championship Tyler Breeze went one on one against the impressive Kalisto. The longest match on the night with both men looking very impressive with back and forth action throughout it. Hard to believe it went on for 14 minutes and Kalisto was so close to picking up this big win, but still walked into a Beauty Shot to hand Breeze the victory.

Result: Tyler Breeze defeats Kalisto

Main Event: NXT Tag Team Championship – The Ascension © vs. Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd

Main event time and Viktor starts the match in strong fashion by taking it to Sami Zayn and taking him to the corner to allow Konnor to attack him as well. A very short match for a main event with four excellent superstars involved but nevertheless it continued to make The Ascension look very dominant, almost unbeatable. This also raised the question as to what Sami and Kidd have to do to move on from their losses.

Sami Zayn did try to get his team back into the match, but Konnor destroyed him before Viktor jumped in and they hit the Fall of Man to retain the gold.

Result: The Ascension defeat Tyson Kidd and Sami Zayn – Still NXT Tag Team Champions
