Liverpool are set to offer Real Madrid £15 million for the services of midfielder Sami Khedira this summer. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen his squad and has identified the Germany international for a potential move to Anfield.
The Daily Mirror reports how Khedira - who is a part of Germany's World Cup squad in Brazil - should most probably be available in the summer with Real Madrid ready to give-up on him mainly because he has been suffering a lot of injuries lately.
A move is likely on the cards as both sides are in favour of one. Madrid are giving up on him and Liverpool are of course offering the amount Carlo Ancelotti wants.
Manchester United and Chelsea though are also keeping a close eye on the situation with them both Premier League rivals also on the lookout for midfield reinforcements. However, Liverpool are in a stronger position to sign him.
Also, the Reds really are in need of Khedira mainly because of the quality of the midfield that Liverpool had last season which left the back four unguarded and hence conceding goals leading to a loss of some vital points and eventually the title.
As Rodgers' side enter the Champions League after a relatively long absence of four years, the Liverpool boss indeed knows the importance of a strong midfìeld as it was in that area of the pitch that arguably cost Liverpool the title last season.
Khedira will of course add a good amount of experience and that is what will boost up the Reds' side and make them even stronger.
