Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger met with Mario Balotelli's agent in Brazil over the weekend, regarding a potential transfer, reports the Daily Star.
The 23-year-old AC Milan striker, who spent three years at Manchester City, is in line to return to the Premier League and quite surprisingly, with the north London club.
Balotelli is keen on a return to English football and to London in particular, with a move to Chelsea and reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho, originally top of the Italian's list. However, Wenger now seems to be leading the race.
The Arsenal boss, who is currently on the lookout for another forward, was said to be impressed with Balotelli's matured performance against England in Manauas, which saw him score the winner.
Wenger is in the market for a versatile striker with proven goal scoring ability and Balotelli may just fit the bill. However, his agent Mino Raiola will be asking for £150,000 a week, which could be a stumbling block as it would make him Arsenal's highest paid player.
Nevertheless, Raiola is confident he can reach an agreement with the Gunners boss for Balotelli to leave the San Siro and move to the Emirates, as ongoing discussions unravel.
A return to English football comes very unexpectedly as many would of thought that Balotelli's eventual transfer to his beloved AC Milan only a year ago, is where he would play out most of his career.
It now seems he has changed his mind and with Arsenal the only club with genuine interest right now, we could well be seeing the famous Italian in red and white colours next season.
