AC Milan vice-president Barbara Belusconi has insisted that Italian striker Mario Balotelli isn't irreplaceable, amid interest from Arsenal.
As reported by The Daily Mail, Belusconi has, however, suggested that the forward is a great player, but has seemingly opened the door for him to leave the club this summer. Balotelli, who is also wanted by Serie A outfit Napoli, only left the Premier League in 2013 as he departed Manchester City for Milan, but could now make a swift return to England's elite division.
"Balotelli is a great player," Belusconi said on Milan's official website. 'But the way I see it, I don’t believe that someone can be irreplaceable.
'We will see what happens."
Balotelli has endured a mixed time since his move to Milan and it's uncertain as to whether he will stay at the club ahead of next season. The forward, who is currently starring in the World Cup, is seemingly interested in a Premier League return.
Reports have indicated that Balotelli won't come cheap for interested clubs. In fact it's being claimed in Italy that Milan will look to sell for as much as £30 million - £10m more than the figure they paid to land him from City.
At £30m, the signing of Balotelli would certainly represent a risk, considering his controversial nature. The Italian came in for a lot of criticism throughout his time in England, after being caught up in a number of high profile incidents.
WENGER SANCTIONS MOVE
Suggestions have been made that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has sanctioned a move to bring Balotelli to north London this summer. As mentioned, the Gunners could yet have to go head-to-head with Rafa Benitez's Napoli side in order to prize the forward away from Milan.
But, it certainly appears that Wenger is extremely interested in bringing the ex-City man to the Emirates ahead of the 2014/15 campaign. It remains to be seen, however, as to whether Arsenal are willing to spend as much as £30m on the ace.
Gunners fans will certainly be hopeful that the club can land a striker in the transfer market. French international Olivier Giroud, who is currently starring at the World Cup in Brazil, is the club's main striker.
Youngster Yaya Sanogo is Giroud's main back-up in attack, despite having still not scored a competitive goal for the club. It looks set to be a busy summer at the Emirates, but will the club land Balotelli in the near future?
