When Nigel de Jong was mooted for a potential move to Manchester United at the weekend he became the NINTH member of Holland's 23-man World Cup squad to be linked with a transfer to Old Trafford this summer.
The recent appointment of Louis van Gaal has made it easy for various news outlets to churn out speculation suggesting that several talented young Dutchman would be perfect additions to the Red Devils squad, but most of the rumours have had relatively little to no substance whatsoever.
Aside from the obvious fact that each player picked to represent the Netherlands in Brazil this summer is viewed favourably by head coach Van Gaal, there isn't any other reason to believe that any of the prospective deals will actually come to fruition once he takes up his post with the Premier League giants next month.
The Sunday Mirror's report that AC Milan's midfield enforcer De Jong is a £6 million target for Manchester United proves that no player is safe from the rumours, especially when you consider the 29-year-old's ties with local rivals Manchester City. Very few players have actually represented both clubs and that alone should pretty much pour cold water over the claims.
MAN UNITED LINKS
De Jong joins Daley Blind (Ajax), Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord), Bruno Martins Indi (Feyenoord), Stefan de Vrij (Feyenoord), Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray), Memphis Depay (PSV) and Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) on the list Dutch stars rumoured to be on their way to Manchester United ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
Aside from the three goalkeepers Jasper Cillessen (Ajax), Tim Krul (Newcastle) and Michel Vorm (Swansea), and Holland captain Robin van Persie - who already plays for the Red Devils - that leaves just TEN players yet to see their name mentioned in the same breath as Manchester United.
WHAT ABOUT NEXT WEEK?
Of course, that doesn't mean that those players will not at some point find themselves the subject of new speculation given the fact that there is plenty of time still left in the transfer window.
So, in preparation of what is sure to follow - and for the benefit of Manchester United fans - here are the remaining members of the Netherlands squad to keep an eye out for this summer…
