Sunderland are eyeing up a loan deal with Chelsea for young defender Kurt Zouma according to the Guardian. The Saint Etienne player will arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer, but could be straight back out of the door if the Black Cats get their wish.
The 19-year-old cost Chelsea around £12 million in January, but he was allowed to complete the season with Saint Etienne before making the move to the Premier League.
OPTIONS AT THE BACK
Sunderland sporting director Lee Congerton has a good relationship with Chelsea which may help make the deal happen. With John Terry signed on for another season, and with Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic on board, the Blues could be a little light at the back, especially given David Luiz's departure.
Fellow young defender Tomas Kalas has been allowed to join Cologne on loan, so Chelsea may be reluctant to let Zouma leave.
