Luis Suarez has been in the headlines for the last few days now, but on Tuesday night it was not because of the goals he scored to dump England out of the World Cup - it was a reliving of a nightmare for Liverpool.
As Uruguay were beating Italy 1-0 to progress to the round of 16, qualifying second in Group D behind Costa Rica, Suarez and Giorgio Chiellini were clashing in the penalty area as the ball was ready to be swung in, when suddenly the pair went to the ground.
Fury and Feigning
Suarez was holding his face as if he had been struck and the Juventus midfielder was furious, getting up and pulling his shirt down to reveal to the referee what he claimed were teeth marks. Replays of the incident definitely showed the Anfield star moving his head towards Chiellini's shoulder and a reaction of shock from the Italian.
Any ambiguity about what may have happened was pretty much cleared up in the fallout from the incident as numerous different angles showed what was, in all likelihood, Suarez sinking his teeth into his opponent, again. The most incredible piece of evidence to emerge from the incident was the long lens cameras picking out the actual teeth marks on Chiellini's shoulder.
Disciplinary action imminent
FIFA confirmed after the match that they would be taking a look at the incident and opened disciplinary proceedings, which could result in an international ban as long as two years for the 27-year-old. World football's governing body also have the power to prevent him from playing in club football, though this appears to be an unlikely step for the moment.
Liverpool should be hoping it is only a suspension from playing for Uruguay, but not because they want him to be available for the start of the next Premier League season - because it is about time they moved him on.
