There have been some outstanding performances so far in this World Cup but here is who I think will help secure their teams a place in the quarter finals.
1. Arjen Robben
Robben has for me been the best player of the tournament so far and I believe he will continue to impress when Holland play Mexico in the round of 16.
The Dutchman scored three goals during the group stages, netting two against 2010 World Champions Spain. After watching him play in Holland's group games it is clear that even the best defenders in the world would struggle to stop him.
Mexico's defence isn't great and I think Robben will cause them a lot of problems. He is good with both feet and his pace and acceleration won't be rivaled by any of the Mexican players.
If Holland are to win the World Cup Robben will play a huge part in their success as he has the ability to unlock any defence and with his talent the Netherlands are always dangerous going forward.
2. Lionel Messi
Argentina have a lot of superstars in their team including the likes of Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria but no one is at the same level as Messi.
So far in this competition Messi has lived up to his name by scoring two goals in two games, the second of which was a stunning strike in stoppage time that won them the game against Iran.
Argentina have already progressed to the round of 16 and Messi will be the player who will carry them through to the latter rounds.
Everyone knows how skilful he is on the ball and how good his shots are but there is nothing defenders can do about it. If there is one player that they don't want running at them, it's Messi.
3. Karim Benzema
France have looked brilliant in the group stages and with the help of Benzema I believe they can go very far in the competition.
Benzema has scored three times already and with him spear-heading a star studded French frontline it is hard to see him not scoring more goals.
The Real Madrid striker could be the difference between France staying in the competition or going home because without him they won't score as many goals. Benzema is good at heading as well as having a fierce shot.
Brazil's poster boy has been his teams star player during the group stages and his good form is set to continue into the next game where they face Chile.
Neymar tore the Cameroon defence apart on Monday and Chile have a lot to be worried about when facing him. He has extremely quick feet and is surprisingly good at heading and jumping for the ball considering he isn't the tallest of players.
The only way Brazil will win the World Cup is if Neymar is playing to the best of his abilities.
Chile will also struggle to match Neymar's pace on the wing but it will be a good contest between him and Alexis Sanchez.
5. James Rodriguez
With the absence of Radamel Falcao, Rodriguez has really stepped up and if Colombia are going to progress they will need him to perform well.
He has definitely been their stand out player in the group stages and has contributed a great deal to his team.
Rodriguez is the play maker of the Colombian team but also chips in with quite a few goals. So far there hasn't been a team that has been able to stop him playing and I think Colombia have a good chance in the round of 16.
