After going a season getting his name in the papers for all the right reasons, Luis Suarez is making the headlines yet again for all the wrong ones. His apparent bite on Italy and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, the third incident like this of his career, could well be the last straw for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid said to be interested in the Uruguay forward.
With the news breaking that the La Liga clubs want to take Suarez off the Liverpool books, Brendan Rodgers has the difficult task of replacing their talisman. The most recent name we have seen linked with a move to Anfield is none other than Swansea striker Wilfried Bony.
One of the most clinical players in his debut season in the Premier League last year, it is no surprise that some of England's top clubs have been linked with a move for the Ivorian.
Having scored two goals in three games in the group stages at the World Cup, no-one is doubting the strikers quality and ability to score at the highest level. With the forward expecting to cost around £19 million, he could be a bargain for Liverpool, and indeed any other potential buyer, with North London rivals Arsenal and Spurs both said to be interested.
Bony has the potential to be the ideal partner for England striker Daniel Sturridge, with his strength, power and aerial prowess complimenting Sturridge's pace and flair. Added with the prospect of playing with stars like Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho, this is a move that could benefit all parties involved.
Although many would feel that a player of Luis Suarez calibre is irreplaceable, purchasing Bony would certainly be a step in the right direction for the Merseyside club. The clinical striker could help Liverpool push for their first league title in 24 years, after coming so close in the 2013-14 season.
Could Wilfried Bony be the man to guide Liverpool to silverware, or are they better of investing in someone else?
