With the World Cup in full swing, there have been a lot of surprising results and performances up until now. One of the teams that was expected to be a powerhouse in all departments of the field and dominate play have under-performed greatly: Belgium.

Even though they won their first two matches, they haven't really displayed a dominating performance and have just managed to scrape through victories.

Still gelling as a team

Even though Belgium have big names in their attacking line-up, they haven't really been able to get a lot of goals, scoring in the second half after going a goal down to Algeria and scoring in the last minute against Russia to get through to the round of 16. Even though they qualified for the round of 16 one could easily tell that they have struggled in front of goal. Their attacking stars like Hazard, Lukaku, De Bruyne and Chadli haven't been able to get their A-game and deliver on the world stage.

Christian Benteke's injury came at a very wrong time for Belgium and its showing on the field with the amount, they are struggling to score a goal. With Lukaku, the only distinguished striker in the squad, he really needs to step up his game and start scoring goals if Belgium is to go past the round of 16.

Lukaku struggling

In both the matches we could see Lukaku struggling to put the finishing touches to the balls provided to him. Considering how he finished the season with Everton one would have expected him to be a goal scoring machine at the World Cup.

Belgium still have South Korea left to play and with them mostly topping their group they have a tough task ahead of them, where they will mostly face Germany, Ghana, Portugal or USA depending on how those results turn out. Belgium's defensive performance has been excellent, up until now, conceding just one goal through a penalty but, they need to find the right combination of attackers in the next match because they have a tough task ahead of them in the round of 16.
