Rihanna left disappointed as USA qualify for World Cup second round

Published 1 Comments

Rihanna continued her dislike of the USMNT on Thursday as they bravely progressed to the second round of the World Cup despite losing 1-0 to Germany in their final group game. The popstar aired her dissatisfaction at the goings on Group G as the US sneaked through to the knockout stages for the second straight World Cup.

But Rihanna is against the country in which she lives for the World Cup, choosing to put her loyalties elsewhere. One of the reasons for supporting Ghana initially was her alleged crush on Kevin-Prince Boateng, but with the Ghanian player heading home in disgrace, attentions turned Cristiano Ronaldo.

Twitter talk

During the Group G double header, Rihanna took to Twitter to root for practically every team but the USA. "Let's go Portugal…Let's go Germany." With Portugal on the ropes at 1-1 in the game against Ghana, Rihanna didn't have much to say until Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo rifled home a left footed shot to keep alive his side's slim hopes of progression to the second round. In reaction to the goal, the popstar tweeted again. "Sweeeeeet ass goal Ronaldo!!! Before adding her thoughts on Ronaldo's current form after Portugal were eliminated from the World Cup saying, "Ronaldo is playing so good right now."

Updates on England's devastation

It's not just this latest round of games that has had Rihanna tweeting her own unique brand of World Cup updates. It all started back when England's hearts were broken in their second group match against Uruguay.

When England equalised in the game to make it 1-1 we found out how much of a fan of a certain striker she was. "Roooonnnnnnnneeeeeeeyyyyyy." That tweet caused a fair share of retweeting activity, but not as much these two when Luis Suarez scored the late winner to break English hearts. "Ooohhhhhh SHIIIIITTTT!!!!! "Man they know better than to give Suarez much room bruh."

Rihanna was crushing on Boateng

The latest teams for Rihanna to put her allegiance in were Germany and Portugal on Thursday, however, Ghana were her personal favorite before the team sent home the star that she was crushing on.
Barbados born, there wasn't a natural team for the popstar support, but she did find brief reason to become a Ghanian fan. A man crush on a certain midfielder called Kevin-Prince Boateng. He was the lucky guy to be given the honor until he was sent home for a vile verbal attack on one of the Ghanian coaches.

She got skills too

Rihanna is not just a follow of the World Cup, she can also play the game a fair bit too. Watch the video below this article to see her showing off some soccer skills on the set of Battleship.
