When WWE released eleven superstars two weeks ago, the departure of Evan Bourne was one of the biggest shocks. He was a talent like many fans had never seen before, but WWE didn't know how to use him and after a career plagued with injury it seemed he was going onto bigger and better things.

Bourne had always been aligned with Ring of Honor, the promotion that made stars out of Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Cesaro and Seth Rollins to name a few.

Ring of Honor

So when Bourne was released a few weeks ago, it seems he contacted the ROH booker Hunter Johnson and told him he had been released and was available but when he was booked to appear in a backstage segment at their pay-per-view in Nashville, it seems WWE were not happy when they heard about it.

Bourne, under his former name Matt Sydal was supposed to cut a promo telling the winner of the World Title match that he was coming for them, but the whole angle had to be scrapped because WWE officials told ROH that Bourne was not available to be booked until September.

Severance pay

As mentioned when the superstars were released, because they were all technically fired, they still have severance pay from WWE for 90 days after they leave to help them whilst they look for other places to work. This is a clause in their contract that says they can't compete elsewhere for 90 days after their release. Evan obviously was unaware of this and thought he could go and work elsewhere since he had been given his marching orders by WWE.

It's pretty obvious Evan will be working for ROH after Septemeber under the name Matt Sydal because WWE has the rights to him Evan Bourne name, but for now he is happy helping out backstage with the company and handing out advice to some of the younger talents in the promotion to help pay ROH back for flying him out to Nashville only for him to be told that he is not allowed to work.

Evan isn't the only one of the released talents that is gaining a number of bookings, it seems the likes of Drew Macintyre, Curt Hawkins and JTG who has teamed back up with Shad to make Cryme Time are all being booked ready for them to appear when WWE cut their ties completely.

Others released talent  Aksana, Jindar Mahal, Yoshi Tatsu and Brodus Clay are yet to be linked with fellow promotions.
