Michu could be set for a move to Qatar, according to the Mirror, after becoming disillusioned at the club. Michu had a spectacular first season in the Premier League, but fell away last season after Wilfried Bony joined the club.
The attacking-midfielder was Swansea’s star goal-scorer in the 2012/13 campaign, leading the club to Capital One Cup glory and earning them a place in last season’s Europa League.
After signing for just £2million from Rayo Vallecano, Michu scored an impressive 22 goals in his opening season. However, over the past year he has struggled with injuries and loss of form, scoring just six goals.
It is believed that Michu is unhappy at the prospect of not being seen as Swansea’s star man, with Wilfried Bony taking his crown over the past year. Bafetimbi Gomis is also close to joining the Swans, providing further attacking options and further reducing the need for Michu.
West Ham and Atletico Madrid have been suggested as possible destinations, however a reunion with former Swansea boss, Michael Laudrup, could be an option, with the two previously suggested clubs more interested in a move for Bony.
Laudrup has agreed to take over at Lekhwiya - last season’s Qatari League champions - and could look to lure his former star with a bumper deal. Michu would almost certainly be the star man in the squad, as well.
