WWE Money in the Bank takes place this Sunday at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line in the main event.
The build-up to the event has been questionable especially with the Daniel Bryan injury having a bigger impact on the outcome of the card. Nevertheless the WWE have announced four matches as of this writing, with a few rumoured to be announced on the night of the pay-per-view itself.
Even though the build-up has been a little different than previous Money in the Bank events, fans will be excited to see who actually walks out with the briefcase, and more importantly who walks out with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Divas Championship: Paige © vs. Naomi
The match came about as Naomi defeated the Divas Champion on Main Event, making her the number one contender and the match itself should be pretty good as these are two of the more talented divas on the roster today. You saw the tension between Cameron and Naomi on Monday Night Raw so you can expect her to have a say in the match or the outcome, nevertheless I believe Paige will be the victor; setting up a Naomi and Cameron feud whilst Paige moves on to another contender; which will be interesting as AJ Lee is rumoured to be pregnant and could be out for a while.
GMS WWE Lead Writer Phillipa Hopwood has a similar outlook on the match: I think Paige will retain again but these two could feud until AJ Lee returns, I think right now they are friends but Cameron could involve herself in this match and it could help liven up the divas division up a little.
WWE Tag Team Championship: The Usos © vs. The Wyatt Family
This is actually the match I believe is the most difficult to predict, both teams have what it takes to win, The Usos are now a solid team ever since they got involved in the John Cena and Bray Wyatt feud and this is how this match came to fruition. I would personally like to see The Wyatt Family finally have some gold. But they are still very over without any titles whilst The Usos probably still need them to remain a big threat in the tag team division; so I think The Usos will retain this time round.
Phillipa: No, The Usos can’t be expected to drop their titles to Harper and Rowan, can they? They are a formidable team and the WWE hasn’t done a lot with The Usos lately so it could happen, but I think The Usos will retain. I think they have what it takes to come out on top and look for new contenders in The Ascension.
Money in the Bank contract ladder match: Bad News Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Jack Swagger vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Seth Rollins
It’s still unclear whether Bad News Barrett will be competing, but it doesn’t matter as I don’t think he will even win. This is a match to be excited by purely because contract ladder matches are always entertaining. Realistically it comes down to three superstars, Ziggler, Ambrose and Rollins and as much as I want to I cannot see Ziggler or Ambrose walking out with it. I think Seth Rollins will win. He recently turned heel and not winning the briefcase could have a negative effect on his heel run – expect Ambrose and Rollins to continue their feud into Battleground and possibly SummerSlam.
Phillipa: It’s going to be Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose, I can’t see any of the other superstars holding the case, these two are the future of the company and they are going to be all over each other on Sunday night. I think one of them will cost the other the case and walk out with it themselves, it’s hard to narrow it down but I’m going to say Seth Rollins because he’s aligned with Triple H and his guys always get what they want.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship ladder match: Alberto Del Rio vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Cesaro vs. John Cena vs. Kane vs. Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus
It is simple, as much as people want to see Bray Wyatt, Cesaro or Roman Reigns as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, it won’t happen, not yet anyway. As much as I want the title to separate once more it’s going to fall on experienced shoulders and with the plans for SummerSlam set; plus the poster being leaked I believe John Cena will be the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion come Money in the Bank.
Phillipa: Will it be a swerve ending? Will we have two titles again? Will we see the up and coming Cesaro or Roman Reigns win their first world titles? Or will we see the ever predictable John Cena lift the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for the first time. Or Randy lift it for the second? This has become one of the hardest matches to predict in a long time, mostly because the guys we want to win, probably won’t.
I think it will be between Randy Orton and John Cena and I think Cena will take it again and hold on to it until Daniel Bryan comes back, then he will offer him a rematch.
Rusev vs. Big E.
This match isn’t official just yet but it will probably be announced on the night. I really like Rusev and I think he has a bright future ahead of him and he should have been in the briefcase match if he was going to win. Nevertheless I believe Rusev will win if this match is announced and will remain a constant threat.
Phillipa: If Rusev vs. Big E. is made official then Rusev, because I can’t see him losing yet. WWE need to build him up a little more, he will face his biggest challenge at SummerSlam and right now not many people are interested in his matches.
Other matches could also be announced on the night, if they are there then expect Goldust and Stardust as well as Bo Dallas to pick up potential victories.
