Liverpool could reportedly confirm the respective transfers of Divock Origi and Adam Lallana as the club flex their muscle in the market following two notable acquisitions by Manchester United in the past 24 hours.
Manchester United set the pace
Manchester United have been able to get the summer off to a flying star having completed the signing of Ander Herrera, a £32 million recruit from Athletic Bilbao, and that of Southampton’s Luke Shaw, who joins for a fee rising to £34 million.
But Liverpool are now seemingly closing in on two signings of note, with the Daily Star reporting that Origi is a deal practically done. It is claimed the 19-year-old will join for £11 million from Lille having risen to prominence in the World Cup with Belgium.
However, the intention would appear not immediately welcome Origi into Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad, but rather allow him to spend the season on loan with Lille in order to further his education in Ligue 1.
Arsenal interest ended
Arsenal had been interested in signing Origi as Arsene Wenger looks to bring more attacking options the Emirates Stadium this summer, although it looks like the Gunners manager will miss out on the signing of the young forward.
Along with Origi, Liverpool are also close to confirming a protracted deal for Adam Lallana, who was initially targeted immediately after the end of the recently concluded club campaign. Lallana is back from World Cup duty with England, which has allowed Liverpool to push ahead with the transfer.
Lallana deal almost done
The 26-year-old will arrive at Anfield following a season in which he performed to distinction for Southampton, earning himself a place in the PFA team of the year alongside teammate Luke Shaw.
Lallana is reported to have been in Liverpool on Friday with the deal edging towards completion.
The signing is expected to cost Liverpool £25 million, taking the club’s spending to £36 million if Origi also arrived.

Swiss star next?
There could also be another significant signing on the horizon for Liverpool with Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri linked with a switch to Merseyside.
The 22-year-old is seemingly surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena given the vast attacking resources available to Pep Guardiola, and and a transfer away from Bayern this summer would appear likely.
It is claimed Liverpool are the leading contenders to sign the Switzerland international, and a deal of £15 million has been mentioned.
