US report - NBA Draft selections and USA progress in World Cup

Football News

We start with basketball and news from an entertaining Thursday night at the 2014 NBA Draft.

Cleveland Cavaliers selected Andrew Wiggins as the first overall pick, while Milwaukee Bucks picked up Jabari Parker with the second selection.

Other big decisions included the 76ers selecting an injured Joel Emiid at three, while the Lakers picked up Julius Randle at seven.

Across to the World Cup, and the US national team bravely made it through to the second round of the tournament.

Despite losing their final group game, the US prevailed thanks to a better goal difference than Portugal.

And finally in MLB, Detroit Tigers destroyed Texas Rangers 6-0 on the road last night, while the Chicago Cubs edged Washington Nationals 5-3 at home.
