La Liga may have its Tiki-Taka, the Bundesliga can boast unparalleled efficiency and the Serie A throws up surprises year after year, but by and large it is the English Premier League which is regarded as the best division in world football.

Without trying to sound biased we tend to agree - the Premier League is exciting, incredibly physically demanding and routinely attracts the best players around (Lionel Messi aside of course). As is to be expected from such a competition, it also generates more than its fair share of legends.

The likes of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Eric Cantona, Alan Shearer and more recently Nemanja Vidic and Didier Drogba have all made their names from their exploits on England’s shores.

Of all those names however only two finished their careers in the country which gave them their fame; Cantona and Shearer. The others, as is common practice in the modern game, moved on having graced the Premier League in their respective peaks, and some even found further success.

Despite begrudgingly acknowledging their fortunes abroad though, we’ll be the first to admit there’s plenty of stars who have left England who we’d love to see make a return. With that in mind we’ve compiled a list of former-Premier League footballers who everyone would like to see plying their trade here once again.
