Manchester United have signed an exciting young talent in the form of Luke Shaw, who has the potential to become a world-class player and rise to the very top of the professional game.
After confirming the £31.5 million capture of the former Southampton defender on Friday, GiveMeSport decided to take a closer look at the 18-year-old's rise to stardom and how he came to pen a lucrative four-year deal at Old Trafford.
The England international becomes new Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal's second major signing of the summer, following the arrival of Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.
Shaw is set to replace Patrice Evra as Manchester United's first choice left-back next season, despite the fact the long-serving Frenchman signed a one-year contract extension last month.
The 33-year-old is expected to have a reduced role at the club with the Saints starlet going straight into Van Gaal's side at the start of 2014/15.
"I am thrilled and excited to be joining Manchester United," Shaw was quoted on the club's official website. "I have been at Southampton since I was eight years old and I would like to thank them and the fans for everything they have done for me.
"I want to continue to progress my career and joining United is the ideal place for me to do that.
"I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life and also looking forward to learning from the world-class players and management at the club."
According to the Daily Mail, Southampton will receive £27 million up front, with another £4.5 million in performance related add-ons, while Shaw has the option of extending his contract by a further year with the 13-time Premier League champions.
