Recently retired UFC fighter, Chael Sonnen is set to star in the main event of a submission grappling promotion.
Sonnen will face off against Andre Galvao at Metamoris 4, which takes place in Los Angeles on August 9. The Orogen fighter opted to retire from MMA after he failed a random drugs test, which meant he had to pull out of the upcoming UFC 175 card, where he was due to fight Vitor Belfort.
Although he's due to be given a suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for MMA, he is clear to fight in this grappling only league. Also at the event will be former UFC Heavyweight champion, Josh Barnett who will face off against Dean Lister.
Barnett hasn't been seen in the UFC since a knockout loss to Travis Browne last December
Metamoris has quickly become the premiere outlet for high level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and with Sonnen highly regarded amongst the grappling community, it could be the start of a boom.
UFC President, Dana White, has expressed an interest in adding Metamoris to the UFC's Fight Pass service and this event could be what's needed to persuade White into going ahead with the move.
