A Philadelphia Phillies fan took an incredible catch on Thursday night but looked very casual about the whole thing while he was applauded by the crowd.
The fan made a superb one-handed catch from the second tier of the Citizens Bank Park after Ryan Howard sliced a foul ball into the crowd.
The ball rocketed upwards and was going to nestle safely into the rear of the first tier until the Phillies fan made an impressive intercepting catch, overhanging the front row of the elevated seating.
The take was caught on camera at CSN and arguably is the best catch by a crowd member this season – but make your own decision here.
The catch inspired a Philadelphia comeback as the Phillies won 5-3 against Miami Marlins in the 14th inning thanks to a two-run walk-off home run by Chase Utley.
The fan’s effort happened at the bottom of the fifth with the scores tied at 2-2 and the Phillies enjoyed an exciting finale which required five extra innings to force a winner.
The game was of marathon proportions and took four hours and 41 minutes to complete.
The victory sparked the fans into a frenzy of wild celebrations as Utley made his way home from his game-winning hit. Fireworks were set off into the night sky as the Phillies had split the series 2-2.
Philadelphia (36-42) now host a four-game series against Atlanta Braves as they try to climb up the National League East division.
The Phillies currently sit fourth in the division which is very tight as just five and a half games separate bottom side New York Mets from table-toppers Washington Nationals.
The Marlins (39-40), who are two and a half games ahead of the Phillies in third, host a tricky three-game series against high-flying Oakland Athletics (48-30).
The American League West division league leaders possess the best season record with a .615 win percentage and are 24-15 on the road.
