Real Madrid could sell Angel di Maria this summer in order to fund a move for World Cup star James Rodriguez - while Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain remain keen on the Colombian ace according to reports in Spain.
Rodriguez is currently the top scorer at the World Cup in Brazil following his stunning brace in the last-16 against Uruguay that helped Colombia book a place in the quarter-finals for the first time in their history.
Inevitably his form at football's biggest showpiece event has prompted speculation that he could be on the move this summer. Rodriguez joined Monaco from Porto last summer in a huge deal believed to be worth £60 million alongside midfielder Joao Moutinho.
The Ligue 1 outfit are unlikely to let him go on the cheap especially after his performances in Brazil, but that seemingly hasn't put off the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid, who remain interested.
Marca report that Los Blancos may move to sell Angel di Maria in order to make room for the 22-year-old at the Bernabeu. The Argentine has been linked with a move away from Spain for some time now but won over coach Carlo Ancelotti with some superb performances, most notably in the Champions League.
The Argentinian has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Arsenal - but Real Madrid's £40 million price tag may be prohibitive.
Manchester United interest
With Louis van Gaal set to take over at Old Trafford after the World Cup, Manchester United are looking to spend heavily this summer, and have already secured deals for Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw.
Marca say that the Red Devils are keen on securing the services of the Colombian number 10, but are behind Real Madrid in the race for his signature. Paris Saint-Germain would also like to sign him.
Rodriguez himself appears to prefer a move to Real Madrid over Manchester United, saying yesterday that he 'preferred' the reigning European champions as his destination of choice this summer.
Van Gaal appears to have plenty of other targets if a deal for Rodriguez, who scored nine goals in his debut Ligue 1 campaign - he's said to be keen on taking the likes of Arturo Vidal and Bastian Schweinsteiger to Old Trafford.
