Hello and welcome to the GiveMeSport – Social Report. Where we have a look at the weekend’s social media best bits!

With the World Cup now into the knock-out stages, Sunday saw Holland beat Mexico by a controversial penalty in the last minute. Arjen Robben being accused of diving and it didn’t take long for the internet to react, have a look at some of these.

Social media becoming more and more popular, the World Cup match between Brazil and Chile broke twitter records, as it became the most tweeted about sports event ever! Beating the SuperBowl! Tweets peeked at 389,000 per minute and there were 16.4 million tweets during the match.

James Rodriguez scored one of the goals of the tournament on the weekend, but it was the Columbian commentary after that stole the limelight with a hilarious reaction of GOOOAAALLLLL!!! However, I can’t fully justify this so see the full commentary here
