When the summer months roll around they present a period of rest for virtually all professional footballers.

Though the World Cup has meant that the best players on the planet have yet to embark on their holidays, the vast majority of stars have retreated from the limelight in order to get their annual dosage of time away from the sport. For managers, the months in between the close of one season and the beginning of another couldn't be any more different.

For the men in the dugout the summer months represent the only time in the calendar year that they can tweak their respective squads without the added pressure of a heavy fixture list, and improve the teams at their disposal with an allotted budget set in place by the board.

But whilst many gaffers are quick to do business once given the opportunity, there's very few of them who get their hands on the players they desire most... the dream signings if you will.

Here we've devised a slideshow dedicated to the biggest managers in the game, and the player they would buy if they had a blank cheque-book and the consent of the opposite clubs.
