The Brazilian full-back is believed to be ignoring calls from La Liga officials until they consent to selling him - with a fee in the region of £19 million now likely to be accepted.

Luis has been on Mourinho's radar for quite some time, as the Blues boss searches for a replacement for the recently departed Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge. Luke Shaw's transfer to rivals Manchester United put the South American back on Chelsea's radar, and he's expected to complete a move before the close of the transfer window.

Diego Costa alternative

However, one player Chelsea are still no closer to completing the transfer of is Luis's team-mate Diego Costa. Instead, the Blues have been offered the chance to sign Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike in a £15 million deal from Fenerbahce. (Daily Mail)

The 27-year-old has impressed at the World Cup this summer, and also helped his current side win the Turkish Super Lig last season with 12 goals in 28 appearances.

Mark Schwarzer gets new deal

Veteran Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has signed a new one-year contract to remain at Stamford Bridge. (

The Australia international impressed during his 13 first-team appearances last season, after joining the club on a free transfer.

Hilario's departure prompted Jose Mourinho to offer the 41-year-old an extended deal as probable third choice stopper behind Petr Cech and the returning Thibaut Courtois next season.

Andriy Yarmolenko

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has taken it upon himself to open talks over a deal for Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko. (Daily Star)

The 24-year-old seemed set for a move to Liverpool last year. However, Dynamo were reluctant to sell their star player for anything under £23 million - a valuation that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was unwilling to meet.

Now the Russian club are ready to sell Yarmolenko for the reduced price of £15 million, and with the Ukrainian seemingly preferring a move to Stamford Bridge over Anfield the transfer is close to being completed.
