Despite growing speculation over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future, Borussia Dortmund insist they have had no bids for the striker.

The 25-year-old joined the the Bundesliga side last season from St Etienne for an undisclosed fee and a five-year contract.

In his debut season, the Gabon international scored 13 goals in 21 starts and he has reportedly impressed many sides across Europe, in particularly, Chelsea.

The Daily Star reported that according to reports from France, the Blues were in advanced talks with Dortmund and a move was set to be completed in the next few days.

However, Dortmund general manager, Michael Zorc has told the German publication, BILD: "Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a player of Borussia Dortmund. We have received nothing in this respect."

Although there has been no confirmed interest from the German club's end, there are enough reasons to believe why Jose Mourinho would want the talented forward.

With a deal with Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa secure, Mourinho is still in need of another attacking option if Costa falls short of the standard required in the Premier League. Besides, he failed to show at the World Cup which could either show a decline in his game or his fatigue following a roller coaster season with the La Liga Champions.

There is still little light being shone over the situation regarding Romelu Lukaku as many question, will he start at Stamford Bridge? Will he go on another loan spell? Or will he eventually move on to another club where there are a likely number of suitors?

Most recently the west London side have acquired Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas. He becomes another addition into Chelsea's array of midfield talent. Reportedly, the Spain international joined the club for a fee in the region of £30 million and the former Arsenal man will play at the Bridge for the next five years.

In spite of heavy attention being place on Chelsea's strike force, is it crazy to think that the Special One could opt for a false nine next season in the true Spanish style?

Borussia Dortmund have also been busy in their spending for strikers. After losing Robert Lewandowski back in January to their rivals, Bayern Munich, Klopp has already recruited two replacements.

Adrian Ramos, formerly of Hertha Berlin has joined the side following a stellar season where he scored 16 goals and he will be joined by Torino and Italy International, Ciro Immobile who finished as the top goal scorer in Serie A last season with 22 goals.
