Even though some pretty significant transfers have already been completed this summer, it seems the biggest are yet to come between now and September 2, when the window slams shut. Fans of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in particular have good reason to feel excited about what might happen during the forthcoming weeks.
A handful of stars currently find themselves at the centre of gripping transfer battles - but there can only ever be one winner. But one thing’s for sure: all of Europe’s top clubs are desperate to strengthen ahead of what promises to be another fiercely competitive season.
Manchester United: What do they need?
Manchester United, with Louis van Gaal at the helm, have already strengthened by acquiring the services of midfielder Ander Herrera and left-back Luke Shaw. But the Red Devils aren’t finished in the transfer window just yet.
They still want at least one more central midfielder, another center-back and possibly another attack-minded player, too.
Chelsea: What do they need?
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho clearly means business, having already signed Spanish duo Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa this summer. But the Portuguese coach is looking to overhaul his side and could bring in at least another two or three big-name stars before the start of the 2014/15 campaign.
A left-back is crucial, following the departure of Ashley Cole, but Mourinho is believed to be in the market for another midfielder as well of at least one more forward.
Arsenal: What do they need?
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has up to £100 million to spend this summer, but the Frenchman has been quiet in the transfer window so far. The veteran coach has been preoccupied with playing beach football in Brazil over recent weeks.
But he is expected to spend big in the near future on a new striker, a new midfielder and a new centre-back if Thomas Vermaelen leaves the club.
