Roman Reigns is set for a massive push from WWE's creative team, that may well see him net the Heavyweight Championship belt before the year is even over. The Shield star gets awesome pops wherever he goes and he could be rewarded for that with an awesome matchup at WrestleMania 31.
His potential opponent in that mega match? None other than the defeater of the streak, Brock Lesnar.
According to reports from WrestlingInc.com, talk persists that Lesnar will take the WWE World Heavyweight Title from John Cena this summer and build to a Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 31. This would be Reigns' big WrestleMania moment and coronation as the new top babyface.
There is no confirmation that Lesnar is booked to defeat Cena at SummerSlam but word is that the pay-per-view is going to be big and September's Night of Champions pay-per-view will be just as big to help with WWE Network renewals. As we already know, Lesnar will indeed be working Night of Champions.
Reigns has just become a singles performer after the splitting up of The Shield. Seth Rollins turned his back on the group to link up with Triple H and the rest of The Authority. Dean Ambrose is going at Rollins on a vendetta that looks like it could well last for a while, leaving Reigns to show what he can do on his own.
Push of all Pushes
And he is getting the biggest push that a WWE star has seen in a while. With Daniel Bryan out injured, the company has been lacking a real beloved fan favourite face character, and they see Reigns as one of their go to guys for the next few years. No matter how poor his microphone skills are compared to a guy like Ambrose.
Reigns is going to be spearing foes for a good while to come. Let's just hope that he doesn't turn into a John Cena type that gets shoved down the viewers throats too much.
