Alexis Sanchez's agent has dropped a big hint that the Barcelona forward is on his way to Arsenal by following a host of Gunners stars on Twitter.
According to the Metro, Fernando Felicevich is heavily involved in talks between Sanchez and Arsenal as Arsene Wenger bids to bring the 25-year-old to the Emirates in a £25 million deal.
The Chilean striker has stayed silent as speculation regarding his future continues to intensify. However, if Felicevich's Twitter account is anything to go by, then it looks as though Sanchez's proposed move is edging close to completion.
Arsenal fans were treated to a bit of excitement this week after the agent (@ffelicevich) followed Olivier Giroud, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal's official Twitter account in quick succession. Of course it could mean nothing but it does seem strange that he followed so many Arsenal players completely out of the blue. Felicevich only follows 168 accounts, so it's not like he follows everyone for no good reason.
The Twitter talk comes shortly after reports emerged that Wenger had agreed to meet Sanchez's agent in Brazil in an attempt to convince the player to reject other interest for Arsenal. Wenger is believed to have offered the player a £130,000-a-week wage, which represents a significant rise on his Barcelona pay packet.
Sanchez is thought to be keen on a move to London, but the increase on his current £75,000-a-week wage will be further reason for the forward to become a Gunner.
Premier League interest
For Liverpool it represents a significant blow as Brendan Rodgers had hoped to take Sanchez as well as a sizeable amount of cash in a deal to take Luis Suarez to Barcelona. However, Sanchez seemed to have little interest of playing at Anfield from day one.
Manchester United had also retained an interest in Sanchez but it seems Louis van Gaal's priorities lie away from attack, where the Red Devils are arguably well stocked for the new season.
Other Arsenal targets
For Arsenal, the big names don't look like stopping with Sanchez. Wenger is also rumoured to be chasing deals for Sami Khedira and Iker Casillas. Other targets include Southampton duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Dejan Lovren and Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy.
Signing all the aforementioned players, with the exception of only signing Schneiderlin or Khedira, would cap an impressive summer for Wenger, who seems intent on spending the large majority of his £100 million transfer budget.
