Manchester United could use veteran left-back Patrice Evra as a makeweight in a deal to sign either Paul Pogba or Arturo Vidal, both of Juventus, this summer. The France international signed a one-year contract extension with the Red Devils in May, but reportedly has a €3.5 million-a-year agreement in place to join the Serie A champions.
This is information obtained by respected French publication L’Equipe - and republished by Le 10 Sport - who claim that the Red Devils are still keen to sign either Vidal or Pogba to significantly bolster their midfield options ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.
Evra keen to leave Old Trafford
Reports suggest that Evra is keen to join the Turin-based club despite signing a new deal with the Premier League giants at the end of last season. That United recently spent £27 million to acquire the services of England left-back Luke Shaw may have convinced the Frenchman to reconsider his options.
United boss Louis van Gaal wants both Evra and Shaw in his new-look Manchester United squad next season, but it’s 18-year-old who is set to become the Red Devils’s first-choice left back under the vastly-experienced Dutch coach.

Pogba or Vidal?
It’s unclear whether Van Gaal would prefer to bring Pogba or Vidal to Old Trafford - although, as they’re both widely regarded as world-class central midfielders, the suspicion is that the United boss wouldn’t be overly concerned.
Pogba may be the hardest to sign. The France international would command a record British transfer fee of £60 million, while he may be reluctant to move back to Old Trafford after enduring a frustrating spell at the club as a youngster.
Vidal, on the other hand, would cost around £44 million to sign. The Chile international, who is widely considered one of the best all-action midfielders in world football, has been strongly linked with Arsenal over recent weeks.
