This week’s episode of NXT saw Sami Zayn take on Justin Gabriel in the main event whilst Renee Young conducted an interview with Tyson Kidd as he continued his heel run.

In last week’s episode we saw a brilliant main event match between Rob Van Dam and NXT Champion Adrian Neville, we saw more fantastic entertainment with the Vaudevillians and a couple of new faces as well.

To start this week, Colin Cassady was going up against Sylvester Lefort, and said that ‘Pepe Le Pew’ is about to get dissed, first he will get disfigured and then he’s going to get dismissed.

Match One: Colin Cassady vs. Sylvester Lefort

Two fantastic talents on the NXT roster, Big Cass is entertaining as usual and did his best in making sure the fans don’t miss Enzo Amore too much, whilst Sylvester Lefort looks and talks in brilliant fashion, he can easily cut it on the main roster if an opportunity like that comes around.

However, the match didn’t last too long as Big Cass started quickly and ended even quicker, hitting the East River Crossing followed by the Empire Elbow for the victory inside a minute.

Result: Colin Cassady defeats Sylvester Lefort

We’re backstage now with our NXT Champion Adrian Neville, as he says that it was an honour to beat Rob Van Dam last week. Tyler Breeze – the #1 contender to Neville’s NXT Championship – interrupts and says that he is impressed that Neville could focus that well considering Breeze was 20 feet away.

Tyler Breeze then tells Neville that it must be killing him inside, as he doesn’t know when Breeze will decide to cash in his title shot, and goes on to say that Neville’s ‘uggo’ face is killing him. Adrian Neville then goes on to offer Tyler Breeze a championship match, but Breeze comes up with the excuse of a finger injury ruling him out, due to a hand modelling session.

Match Two: Charlotte and Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch and Bayley

A solid yet predictable divas tag team match, with newcomer Becky Lynch competing in her second match; with some good commentary work from William Regal topping it off. Charlotte continues to look very impressed as NXT Women’s Champion and gives her team the win, tagging in to hit the ‘Bow Down to the Queen’ on newcomer Lynch for the victory in under ten minutes before Bayley stops Sasha Banks from attacking Becky Lynch after the match.

Result: Charlotte and Sasha Banks defeat Becky Lynch and Bayley

Backstage Justin Gabriel is preparing for his main event bout with Sami Zayn until Tyson Kidd walks in and tries to get Gabriel to side with him but Gabriel refuses to do say, and says he’ll prove it in the ring against Sami Zayn.

We then see a segment between NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte and her tag team partner Sasha Banks after their victory moments ago, Sasha asks Charlotte why she didn’t have her back in the match until Charlotte drops the bombshell that the team is finished because she is the champion, Banks then signals that she’s coming for her former partners gold.

Match Three: CJ Parker vs. Steve Cutler

It looks as if CJ Parker has turned his attention to Xavier Woods, as he has a new sign this week with Woods’ name crossed out. He tells his opponent that people like Steve are ruining the world, just like all of the fans. He then goes into the match hitting a side kick for the quick victory.

Result: CJ Parker defeats Steve Cutler

After the match Parker continues to talk about Xavier Woods and about just how educated he is but is doing absolutely nothing on the main roster. He says if he was in Woods’ position, he would have captured titles by now and would change the world along the way.

Tyson Kidd interview

We finally get to watch the interview between Tyson Kidd and Renee Young but is shorter than anticipated. Kidd says he wasn’t in a good mood to do the fallout show after NXT: Takeover which is why he stormed off before he said something stupid. He says he didn’t notice Natalya was there and didn’t ignore her on purpose.

Renee Young then asks why Kidd got angry at Natalya for telling the referee that Adrian Neville actually had his foot on the topes, he says he went ballistic during the match but is glad Natalya calmed him down, he says he doesn’t want to win championships but as Renee Young talks about problems in the marriage, he walks off once more.

We then find out that Bayley will take on Summer Rae next week to determine the #1 contender to the NXT Women’s Championship.

Main Event: Sami Zayn vs. Justin Gabriel

A highly anticipated main event clash between two fantastic in-ring workers, Tyson Kidd is at ringside and the fans begin to chant ‘Nattie’s husband’. We see some brilliant technical wrestling at the beginning until we get a couple of close calls towards the end of their match.

The match lasted under 15 minutes but it was very entertaining, we saw a Blue Thunder Bomb, a missed Helluva Kick and a missed 450 Splash as well. The match finished when Sami Zayn locked in the impressive Koji Clutch, leaving Gabriel no choice but to submit.

Result: Sami Zayn defeats Justin Gabriel.
