After a disappointing season, Tottenham have tasked Mauricio Pochettino with Champions League qualification and the Argentine manager has wasted little time in targetting Swansea left back Ben Davies as his first addition.

Spurs initially offered £8million but have returned to Wales with an improved £10million offer, according to the Daily Telegraph, and seem desperate to secure Davies' signature and address more than one problem issue.

Although not a star name to set fans' pulses racing, the young Welsh international ticks a lot of boxes and is a sign that Spurs have learnt their leasons from the past.
