Every four years football fans around the world gear up for the biggest festival of football there is - the FIFA World Cup.

Four years of waiting comes to an end as 64 games are squeezed into one month as some of the world's best teams, and a few plucky underdogs, battle it out to be crowned the best in the world.

Sometimes a tournament comes around and the hype far exceeds the action, as disappointed fans wait for the next chance to watch the greatest players alive all do business at once.

Take the 2010 World Cup for example, a tournament littered with bore draws that will be most remembered for the dreadful sound of vuvuzelas as opposed to the football on show.

However, Brazil 2014 has been just as good as we could have hoped for, and better.

To explore why we think this year's World Cup has been such a joy to behold, scroll through the next six pages and be sure to tell us your favourite thing about the 2014 World Cup in the comments section below.
