Seattle Sounders FC defender DeAndre Yedlin is set to join Serie A runners-up Roma, according to MLSsoccer.com's Greg Seltzer.
Having impressed for the United States at the World Cup this summer, the 20-year-old could soon sign for the Italian giants - giving him the chance to line up alongside stars such as Francesco Totti, Kevin Strootman and Miralem Pjanic.
The deal would reportedly see the right-sided speed-king remain at hometown club Sounders FC for the remainder of the season, as they look to claim their first Major League Soccer title.
He sat out of Saturday night's 1-0 Cascadia derby defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps, but the Rave Green remain seven points clear at the top of the Supporters' Shield standings.
Yedlin has made 42 regular season appearances in two years with Seattle, scoring once - though he added further goals in both the MLS Cup play-offs and the CONCACAF Champions League.
Known for his athleticism and willingness to attack, the 2013 All-Star displayed these attributes in three matches in Brazil. Late cameos in group matches against Portugal and Germany were followed by an early introduction for the injured Fabian Johnson in the second round clash with Belgium - where he starred.
The Sounders man can now boast seven international caps, and he could also be joined at the Stadio Olimpico by ex-England full back Ashley Cole.
The one-time UEFA Champions League winner left Chelsea last week and has been linked with a move to Rome.
These rumours have been given some substance by comments from Cole's agent Jonathan Barnett, who has suggested that a move away from the Premier League is looking likely.
"The situation is that we are talking to several clubs. At the moment it is only clubs based abroad - there may be other developments, but for the moment, that is all we are talking."
Eight years at Stamford Bridge brought eight major honours, while the 33-year-old had previously collected five medals at Arsenal. As well as departing London this summer, the former Crystal Palace loanee has hung up his international boots after being excluded from Roy Hodgson's World Cup plans. He played 107 times for his country.
Roma have already brought in Seydou Keita and Antonio Sanabria in the close-season, as Rudi Garcia looks to bring the club their first Scudetto since 2001. They finished 17 points behind Juventus in the 2013/14 season, despite not losing in the league until after the New Year.
