Uriah Hall endeared himself to just about everyone in the MMA community at the weekend, after defeating Thiago Santos with a unanimous decision at UFC 175 whilst battling through a disgustingly painful looking broken toe, that was protruding out of Hall's skin.

Ups and Downs

The middleweight has had his fair share of ups and downs in his short career to date. Hall has gone from a can't miss prospect, to a massive flop in the making and back to a guy with great heart and courage in a matter of months.

On Saturday night, in front of millions, Hall silenced his doubters, hopefully for good.

Toe in Tatters

Hall suffered a right foot injury, likely a broken toe, sometime during the first round of his middleweight fight against Thiago Santos at UFC 175 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. But Hall persevered in a tremendous display of grit and went through with the bout. He earned a unanimous decision, winning on scores of 29-28, 29-28, 30-27.

“Every move, I would feel my bone shift in and out of my skin,” Hall said before he limped out of the cage with his arm around a cornerman's shoulder; His toe pointing in a different direction.. "But If you're not going after you're dreams, you just exist," he added. "You don't want to just exist, you want to get the most out of life."

The win marks two straight in a row for Hall after he was defeated in the final of the Ultimate Fighter. Before his victory two days he ago he beat Chris 'The Crippler' Leben via TKO in the first round.

Insane Actions

Adrenaline must be a hell of a chemical. Hall somehow managed to dance around the octagon and remain light on his mangled feet, even swinging vicious kicks at Santos with his broken foot. The man deserves all the time he gets off to recover.
